◎简 介
很久很久以前，在一个遥远的大沼泽里，沼泽里住着一只叫史莱克的绿色怪物，过着悠闲的生活。有一天，他平静的生活被几个不速之客打破，它们是一只眼神不怎么好的小老鼠，一只大坏狼和三只无家可归的小猪，他们都是从童话王国里逃出来的，那里现在被一个叫法尔奎德的恶棍霸占了，他还抢去美丽的公主菲奥娜，强迫她做自己的新娘。
史莱克决定帮助这些可怜的朋友，更希望能够见到它们描绘的美丽的公主。于是，他上路了，除了这些朋友之外，他还有一个很特别的伙伴--爱说俏皮话的骡子唐基，这只骡子除了让它闭上他那张爱唠叨的嘴之外，愿意为史莱克做一切事……
当然后面发生的事情不用多说你也能猜的到，史莱克和它的朋经历了种种危险，期间还和一条会喷喷火的看守恶龙决斗，最后终于完成了他英雄旧美人的壮举……
本片中的史莱克非但不是白马王子，他连人都算不上，只是一个圆滚滚的绿色“奥格”。他不但样子丑，而且一点也不温柔，还不爱干净，甚至性格有点孤僻。史莱克跟驴子一起“英雄救美”的情节中加入了大量现代人的意识。

本片不仅吸收了迪斯尼的经典模式，而且拿这个模式开了一个巨大的善意玩笑。以往迪斯尼的影片可以归纳为“王子拯救落难公主，两人一见钟情，最后白头偕老”的定律。王子和公主心地善良不用说，更重要的是郎俊女貌。可是，世界上大多数人相貌平平，既没有明星脸，也没有运动员身材，难道他们只配当灰姑娘的姐姐或后妈？本片在用声音塑造人物方面取得了极高的成就，尤其是埃迪·墨菲配音的驴子。另外，电脑技术也有突破，使得视觉真实性达到空前的水平。这是第一部荣获奥斯卡最佳动画长片的作品。

幕后制作
《怪物史莱克2》在剧情方面显然没有能够达到前作的水平，当然这也是意料之中，因为前作所实现的突破和创新为续作留下的创意空间确实太小了。初看《怪物史莱克》时时会有意外和惊喜，而到了《怪物史莱克2》已经很少会出现这样的感觉。梦工厂也许也意识到剧情方面的薄弱，因此下大力强化配音阵容、对社会时尚和时事的模仿和原声音乐三个卖点，目标估计就是“就算不叫好，只要它叫座”。从结果来看也确实如此：观众和评论界的看法都是褒贬不一，但是票房收入的数字却是实实在在地表明，好莱坞又一次制造了一个异常成功的文化商品。
花絮
·片中穿靴子的猫说“我讨厌星期一”，这明显是引用了加菲猫的名言。
·史莱克在攻城战中跳上驴子的动作模仿的是精灵王子莱格拉斯在《魔戒》中的“特技表演”。一开始菲奥纳戴上结婚戒指的镜头也明显是对《魔戒》的戏仿。
·本片是梦工场使用新logo的首部影片。
·最开始编导们想让菲奥纳的国王爸爸在片中一直裸体，上演“皇帝的新装”。
·卡梅伦·迪亚兹在晚餐那场戏中真的打了一个饱嗝。
·遥远国的中的许多标志都是对现实的戏仿，例如Burger Prince(Burger King汉堡王)、遥远国Far Far Away 的标志(好莱坞的标志)、Farbucks Coffee (Starbucks星巴克)等。

“ 绿怪”史莱克(麦克·梅尔斯配音)的故事依然在延续。而这一次，爱人朋友却一个都不少。如愿和心爱的菲奥娜公主(卡梅隆·迪亚兹配音)结成连理之后，史莱克终于能在众朋友的陪伴下在自己的沼泽丛林乐园里过着幸福的小日子了，然而等着他们的却是继承“遥远王国”的国王和王后之位的使命。别说懒散成性的史莱克了，就连曾经尊贵美丽的菲奥娜公主，也分外挂念沼泽地里的泥藻谷和自由广阔的生活。
两人一心想离去，而病重的老国王哈罗德显然又无法继续操劳国事。双方在一番争吵之后终于想出了一个折衷的解决办法，由史莱克带着他的两个贴身好友，那只话痨一般的贫嘴驴(埃迪·墨菲)和关键时刻玩可怜的靴子猫(安东尼奥·班德拉斯)，一同去把即将从学校毕业的菲奥娜的堂弟亚蒂接回王国继承王位。而这个亚蒂小子乃是中学里的懒鬼学生，要说服他回国做正经事当国王，简直比太阳从西边出来还困难。还好，三个家伙的一番软磨硬泡下来，亚蒂终于同意成行。
四人的回国之旅终于开始，不过也是热闹非凡。先是史莱克发明了所谓的圆桌骑士，然后是贫嘴驴的灵魂一度爬上了穿靴猫的身上，颇为骑士的猫儿一度像驴先生那样语速奇快、出口成章，后来亚蒂居然把他自个儿的神剑赐给了贫嘴驴，而驴先生居然还变成了当初把剑送给亚蒂的“湖中女神”。与此同时，只身在王国陪伴父母的菲奥娜公主却显然遇到了不小的麻烦。她眼看着不甘心王位旁落他人的帅气的查明王子纠结了一帮**的海盗，杀回遥远王国，计划掀起一场大叛乱，企图一举夺走王位。而已然深受丈夫史莱克影响的菲奥娜却不会轻易忍受**来袭。和母后等一帮宫内女性们携手组织了一支妇女自救队，将王国里那些娇生惯养的公主们通通组织起来，练习武功等种种斗争技巧，坚持与查明王子的乌合之众抗争到底。而她的自救队中尽是些童话故事里知名的主儿，给前来进攻的叛军制造了无数麻烦。白雪公主、灰姑娘、睡美人、长发姑娘，连酒吧间女生男相的“老板娘”都加入进来，用她的“美色”成功诱惑了叛军的守卫。
最后，及时赶回王国的四人与王国内的妇女自救队成功汇合，与查明王子的反叛军展开了一场令人啼笑皆非的“生死”大决战……
